DUMFRIES COMMUNITY
Dumfries Community Acupuncture has been set up in the peaceful, calm Studio on the ground floor of Wellness Centre Dumfries
This is a project we have decided to offer within the centre. The global pandemic caused by Covid 19 has forced many of us to re think the way that we do things .
We at Wellness Centre Dumfries have been forced to suspend many of classes and workshops that we held.
We have decided to put the studio to use offering Community Acupuncture.
As soon as the current lockdown restrictions are lifted we will be running a "Community clinic" on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Later in 2021 we hope to expand the service.
The Community Acupuncture will be run by Lynda Sharp and Linzie Graham.
Lynda is the resident Acupuncturist in the centre with many years of experience and Linzie is a second year student on the Acupuncture Degree Course at the Northern College of Acupuncture.
All Acupuncture teatments will be provided by Lynda
This will be Low Cost No Frills Acupuncture but you will still be treated with professionalism and expertise. the fees will be on a sliding scale meaning that you pay what you can afford.
In Asia Acupuncture is provided in multi bed centres at low cost. Here in the West we are not used to such clinics and tend to favour the one to one treatment approach which by its nature is costly.
This type of setting is ideal for certain conditions such as
Stress, Tension and Anxiety
Chronic Pain
Chemo and Radiotherapy Support.
How does it work?
You must book an initial consultation where we will ask questions and discuss a treatment plan with you .
Then you can go ahead and book for the community clinic.
Please note that you must book all appointments and pay for them on line in advance
You are asked to wear loose fitting clothing.
Depending on your treatment we may have to uncover areas for needling but you will always be behind a screen and covered with a lightweight blanket as much as possible.
Please have something to eat approx. an hour before your appointment.
We may take your pulse and look at your tongue and ask a few questions.
Any questions of a personal nature would not be discussed in front of other patients. We have an adjacent room if needed.
You relax with your needles in place for around 20 minutes or longer if needed.
Sometimes your condition is more effectively treated in a one to one, private appointment we will advise you if this is the case.

Community Acupuncture
will be available
2021 as soon as covid restrictions lift.
